“A Tear Drops” Is Rejected

2008 August 23
by Faerie♥Kat

This short poem, submitted to the Short Story Library, was also rejected on the 17th of August.  According to the editor, he “felt it was missing depth and I was a little confused at what exactly was happening within each stanza. The poem should tell a story and I felt that this poem was trying to paint a picture[,] but it was not really clear. I suggest adding more depth and descriptions around it to help clarify the sequences.”  If you would like to read this poem, click here.  Keep in mind that I did not submit the picture, which may (or may not) have made a difference in clearing up his “confusion.”

Well I went ‘here’ put I was sent ‘there’ where
WordPress.com wanted me to sign in my Username and Password,, having none,, I went home again and merrily danced thru the cornstalks looking for Dorothy,, after having a few words with Captain Jack of course…

You should have had me do the editing for you…
I’ve had great success with my submittals to SSL…
I hope you sent them a nice reply letter in the
    Neo-classical style of punctuations…
I have one if you’d like to borrow it…

    Hey GT

Sorry for the confusion, I goofed on the link, but it’s fixed now. At least you got some good exercise and yummy libation.

I knew I should have passed this poem through you before handing over to the tender mercies of SSL. Don’t know what I was thinking. Could it be some of your cornstalk shavings/ravings have made their way into my brain? I sent off a polite “my, my, ain’t we tecthy,” but only scorched the bridge a little. When it’s time to burn it down, I’ll call on you and Puff, fer sure!

Thanks for your encouragement Kara. I’ve added your blog to my blog reader and will certainly be over to check our your poetry (had a quick glance at the first two and your imagery and timing are lovely and haunting).
