“Faerie Wedding Bells” – I Receive My First Rejection
I received my first short story rejection today. I am disappointed, but not disheartened. I was actually glad to finally hear something.
“Faerie Wedding Bells” was rejected by Cricket Magazine in only one and half months. I’m still waiting to hear from Faerie Magazine about “The Faeries in My Hair,” which they will have had for four months come April 11th.
The canned rejection letter was very polite:
Dear Author
Thank you for your interest in our magazine and for submitting your manuscript(s) for our consideration. My editorial staff and I have carefully studied your material, and we regret to inform you that we do not find it appropriate for our publications.
We are glad to have had this opportunity to see your work, and hope that you will be successful in placing it elsewhere.
Sincerely,
Alice Letvin
Editorial Director
Cricket Magazine Group
I mailed “All the Sacred Hollows” (formerly “The Secret Chamber”) to Realms of Fantasy Magazine yesterday. Time to get started on my next story.

its about time…don’t forget all the little
spell checkers when your rolling in cookie dough…
best of luck…….
Good luck for the future
Oh, I’m so sorry, Kathryn.

My sister used to write and try to get her stuff published – I’ll ask her if she has any insight or advice about the whole process…
I suspect that, as in just about all of life, the one characteristic as important as skill is persistence, so hang in there!
Hugs,
Gwen
Hi Gwen
Well, as you well know, I am very persistent! I am already thinking about who I will submit it to next. I still think the story is very good, I just have to find the right magazine where it will “fit.”
I really appreciate your support; you are one very smart person and a lovely friend. With people like you in my corner, how could my spirits ever flag?

Dear Samantha
Thank you so much for stopping by and offering your encouragement. It was very sweet of you.
I love your website. What a unique and wonderful idea, to create individual made-to-order faerie, magic and fantasy stories for people.
I hope everyone checks out your website at http://www.samanthagrayson.com/. I know I’ll be back to check out all the other goodies you have about contacting and sighting faeries!
I’m going to add you to my blogroll at http://faeriekat.wordpress.com, too.
Faerie blessings,
Kat

Thanks, Cheryl
I know it’s just a matter of finding the right “fit.” I have several other mags in mind; just trying to decide who to tag next.
Your support means so much to me. Very glad you stopped by and left your indelible mark!
Hugz and kizzes!
Kat
Don’t give up… at the very least, your blog readers will get to enjoy the fruits of your creativity, right?
